WSA Winner
Friday July 22nd, 2005
It was a well placed comment left here on the WSA that led me to Kev Adamson's site and I am glad I went, it is a visual treat. Amongst all the super slick and shiny sites of today, it's nice to see something so effortlessly scruffy but oozing style and attention to detail nonetheless.
Perhaps a little predictably, the decider for me was the liquid layout and Kev has tackled it superbly well, it's virtually unnoticeable.
I have to admit, I found the CSS to be a little bit on the scruffy side too but it validates, so I'm not going to hold it against him, he's the one who has to maintain it after all.
I was also a bit disappointed to find that the Talking of design section is Blogger, rather than it's own CMS. As this is such a small part of the site though, and something that could so easily be changed, I didn't let it put me off.
Web standards aside, Kev certainly has some talent when it comes to illustration and animation and I have a feeling this won't be the last we hear of Mr. Adamson.

Pretty nice, but I must say that the text is rather small, and scaling is not much of an option in some aspects. A lot of text gets messy when scaling up.
Other than that, it's definitely a nice site, the liquid's done well indeed.

What a warm and glowy feeling it is to be on the wsa site. When I found out my site was going to be featured I nearly soiled myself.
Many thanks to the wsa guys for causing this feeling in my brain and body to occur...
Right, better get the polish and feather duster out if I'm to expect guests (i.e. give the css file a bit of a tidy etc.)
Obviously feel free to 'let rip' in terms of any comments you have - good or bad - all feedback is a gift ...

I must offer my sincerest apologies to both Kevin and the three commentators whose comments have been lost. It was thanks to a spam attack that I found myself with a minor clean up mission and unfortunately lost three comments here along the way. As I remember, each was very complimentary about the site.
Again, to Kev, I'm sorry!

This site does not strike me as deserving of a WSA. There are many more sites deserving of this award.

Kristopher, the first sentence fine, you are entitled to that thought, but I think you should try and give reasons as to why you think that.
The second sentence I am not repeating myself again on this one, see the Vivabit comments.

Oooh loving it! It's original and extremely well done... and the liquid layout is fantastic - you only notice it when resizing. Very clever ;)
The only thing I don't like so much about it is the navigation - it just seems a little undefined to me. Maybe the drop shadow is too dark or something... but that's picking nits. Great site!

Well done Kev, I see all that hard work you've put into the site over the months has got the recognition it deserves.
